The exhibition, curated by Matteo Giacomelli, presents a selection of 30 original vintage photos, mostly unpublished by Giancolombo (1921 - 2005), key figure of the Italian and European post-war photojournalism and founder of the Giancolombo News Photos Agency. These are photographic services played between news and history and dedicated to the early twentieth century European avant-garde masters such as Georges Braque, Salvador Dalí, Giorgio De Chirico, Pablo Picasso and the Fifties and Sixties such as Lucio Fontana and Georges Mathieu. For the first time this year, as a tribute to Dalí, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of his death, the performance sequence is presented, under the banner of LIFE = ART, held by the Spanish artist in '61 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice . The photographs shown were taken in the international capitals of culture and social life between Italy, France and Spain. These are portraits of artists taken in the studio or in action, during official ceremonies or interludes played at the home of friends, in which the artists stage themselves and that the high art photography, stops and returns filling the gap between the flow of the artist's life and the formalization of the work of art. The relationship between Giancolombo and Lucio Fontana, currently celebrated in the New York Metropolitan retrospective, is a special case. For the Argentine-Milanese master, Giancolombo will realize the photographic documentation of the entire work from the Fifties to the '68. Giancolombo, through photography, makes a parallel reading of Fontana's work moving between studies, courtyards, cuts and holes, through an interpretation that goes beyond narrative aspects and offers unprecedented possibilities of vision and understanding.
