On Thursday April 23, 2026, the Teatro Comunale di Sasso Marconi (BO) presents the performance Ombrelloni. Riviera Blues by Jacopo Gardelli, featuring Lorenzo Carpinelli and Studio Doiz, with music by Giacomo Toschi.
The Kursaal is a typical Romagna seaside resort. In summer, it turns into a large condominium built on the sand. Under its beach umbrellas, small dramas unfold, fleeting summer romances spark, and sometimes someone gets lost. Beach life seems destined to repeat itself endlessly, always the same. But there is a problem. The shoreline is a fragile boundary. Mass tourism, floods, subsidence, and rising sea levels threaten the existence of an ecosystem that, for too long, we have taken for granted.
Ombrelloni is a humorous story about our life at the beach. The Bagno Kursaal — a fictional family-friendly beach resort that has witnessed the past thirty years of Italian history — becomes a magnifying lens through which to explore the illusions, obsessions, and absurdities of a country that shows both its best and worst sides on vacation. Before the beach disappears.
