Odissea Minore | Fieno Di Chio

Sunday, November 2nd, in Sala Polivalente, Nicola Di Chio, Christian Elia, and Miriam Selima Fieno present Odissea Minore - Per un'educazione alla frontiera: coming into the world—or growing up—in the fragile balance of borders and movement, learning the languages of the journey, getting used to making do, assimilating a grammar made of escape, survival, and fear. It is shaping a generation born of a unique experience, whose long-term traumas and potential we still do not fully understand.
Following the Balkan routes, the performance explores the future of a Europe being redefined through the experiences of these frontier generations.

In 2024, the theatre company Fieno di Chio, journalist Christian Elia, and documentary filmmaker Cecilia Fasciani conducted field research by traveling through symbolic sites along the land migration routes that have marked the face of Eastern Europe since 2015. Over the course of four long stages, the team collected testimonies and stories. They observed methods of repression and explored places where children and adults in transit are rendered invisible.
The collected material, combined with a decade-long archive on the Balkan route, gave life to a visual, verbal, and sound dramaturgy that intertwines theatre, narrative journalism, and documentary cinema.
