From Friday 9 to Sunday 11 January 2026, at Teatri di Vita in Bologna, the show The Fridge takes the stage.
Twenty years after its debut, the production by Andrea Adriatico returns, based on one of Copi’s most whirlwind theatrical texts, where his themes and obsessions are densely concentrated—starting with indeterminate genders—set against the backdrop of the immeasurable solitude of a woman shut away at home, who deceives her phobias and anxieties by imagining characters who come to visit her, more or less absurd and threatening.
Bringing the protagonist to life is Eva Robin’s. Ironic, captivating, cynical: this is how she appears on stage, with a monologue that seems written especially for her, in a dizzying crescendo of words and situations reminiscent of a tragicomic comic strip, like a lysergic trip. Against a hyperrealistic pop backdrop, eccentric sequences follow one another in a kaleidoscopic whirl that revolves around the improbable appearance of a fridge in the living room of a former fashion model on the boulevard of fading glory, blending with other characters generated by this nightmare: an unhinged psychoanalyst, a cruel mother, an irreverent maid, a megalomaniac publisher, and a… mouse!
In The Fridge there is all the cynical and biting theatricality of the great Franco-Argentine Copi, who died of AIDS in 1987, famous for the Seated Woman comics and for his ability to laugh with scathing irony at the misfortunes and injustices of the human comedy.
