Emma B. vedova Giocasta

On Thursday 19 March 2026 at the Teatro Comunale di Sasso Marconi (BO), the performance Emma B. vedova Giocasta will be staged, starring Marco Sgrosso.

Shafts of light cut across the space; a pendulum clock marks the passage of time, relentless. Emma holds a letter in her hand, waiting. When she begins to speak, the flow of words connects past and present, opening a glimpse toward the future. Images and memories bloom; from a trunk emerge traces of a time never truly lost, from a chest the tools of an imagined seduction. Someone tells the story of a savage rupture, while Mother and Son take shape within the same body: speaking to oneself and to someone else, in total solitude. Reworking the monologue by Alberto Savinio, dedicated to the memory of Valeria Moriconi, Marco Sgrosso revisits the story of Emma B—a mother awaiting the return of her son after a long absence, toward whom she harbors a morbid attachment—bringing to life a powerful and unsettling solo that delves deep into the psyche of a parent.
