Since 1938, the Trattoria Leonida, situated on one of the oldest alleys in Bologna, has been hosting its guests and tempting them with Bolognese cuisine recipes such as strictly homemade fresh pasta and countless other highly appreciated dishes all accompanied by excellent wines. Nearly one century of history The historic restaurant is situated in an alleyway at the heart of Bologna having a name, Alemagna, that explains a lot: in fact, it was a German innkeeper who around 1600 opened the inn for German students visiting Bologna for the purpose of following courses at its renowned university, so providing a space where they could meet and feel again the atmosphere of their home country. It was in 1938 when the Trattoria Leonida opened its doors in via Alemagna, in the heart of Bologna: since then our tradition of typical Bolognese cuisine has stayed the same however, we are constantly adding creative new dishes to this cuisine. A cuisine to delight connoisseurs The Trattoria Leonida boasts a long tradition in Bolognese cuisine. Dishes offered range from classics such as freshly made hand-rolled pasta, traditional filled pasta dishes, roast meats, stewed meats, all types of wild game both animals and birds and grilled meat and other specialities, to much sought-after dishes based on truffles (in season) and all types of fresh mushrooms. The Trattoria Leonida is also highly distinctive for the range of dishes it prepares every day (45 first courses and 40 second courses) ranging from dishes for celiac sufferers on request, an extensive selection of stewed and grilled vegetables depending on the season and vegetarian dishes.
