Outdoor swimming pools in Bologna and surroundings

Updated on 08 June 2023 From Bologna Welcome

If you already took a peek at our tips on what do to in Bologna when it's too hot and you're into swimming pools, here are some useful proposals for spending a relaxing day or afternoon away from the city dullness while taking an unwinding swim.

The territory of Bologna offers plenty of solutions, located both close to the urban area and deep in the countryside, suitable for every taste and need. Believe us, you won't regret the seaside!

Let's start from the city area:

Bologna is particularly appreciated for its indoor pools, a precious shelter during the winter, but, as it is normal, it counts fewer open-air spots for swimming enthusiasts.

The historic piscina Sterlino is a must-try for those not wishing to stray too far. Located within easy reach in the Murri district, it has been a guarantee of relax and wellness in Bologna for many years.

Another alternative within the urban area is the Piscina Vandelli, in the Arcoveggio district, equipped with an outdoor pool especially suitable for children and for cooling off without having to swim a lot. The same applies to the Piscina Cavina in the Borgo Panigale area.

However, it is in the surrounding areas that swimming lovers will find a sight for sore eyes. Let's talk about the Apennines, where every single area or valley has its reference point.
From Rastignano to M.L. King in Casalecchio, from PalaZola to Conca del SoleChalet Valsarena and Free Beach Pool, the territory teems with swimming pools and green landscapes, where small and large pools and green lawns of beach umbrellas will be welcoming you warmly. You'll be spoilt for choice.

Moving towards the Plain, in Budrio or San Giovanni in Persiceto you'll find large, well-equipped structures, ideal for a day off with your friends or family.

In Castel Maggiore the Bologna Padel sport center features a renewed swimming pool in a very relaxing park, plus the opportunity of playing sports like padel and football thanks to its several fields and courts.

Finally, the Imola area also comes with countless options, first of which the Villaggio della Salute Più water park, nestled in the hills with its many pools, slides and relaxation areas, without forgetting the swimming pool in Castel San Pietro.

Well, now... have a good swim!
