Bologna's
heart is once again throbbing with the passion of great cinema. In June, the
city kicks off a season of films, screenings and festivals bound to thrill the
Bolognese and visitors alike.
Enlivening the city from 10 to 20 June, the Biografilm Festival | International celebration of lives is going to inaugurate this eagerly awaited summer. With its 18th edition just presented, the festival will mark the launch of this cinematic season with a rich programme of films and a wealth of international guests.
What is
more, the long-awaited open-air screenings (Sotto le Stelle del Cinema - Under the Stars of Cinema) will start on 19 June in Piazza
Maggiore, lightening up one of the world's most beautiful settings until
mid-August. Here you can take a look at the programme of the films displayed.
And how can
we forget Il Cinema Ritrovato, now celebrating its 36th edition and
starring as the absolute protagonist in theatres and Piazza Maggiore from 25
June to 3 July. Curated by the Cineteca di Bologna, the festival has already
announced some of the films and themes to be featured. This year, great
international guests are expected to return to the fabulous stage in Piazza
Maggiore, with some really great surprises.

On the wake of this year's celebrations of Pier Paolo Pasolini's 100th anniversary, Bologna is paying homage to the great director with an exhibition dedicated to his formative and highly inspirational years in Bologna: Folgorazioni Figurative will be on display within the rooms of the underground passage in Piazza Re Enzo until November.
In short, a
season of great cinema is already underway and will be completed in the second
half of the year by other important festivals such as Terra di Tutti Film
Festival, Future Film Festival, YoungAbout International Film Festival, and
many more.
