From June 20-28, 2026 Bologna hosts the 40th Il Cinema Ritrovato festival, with a rich programme in cinemas and theatres, also during outdoor evening screenings in Piazza Maggiore and other special spots of the city. The event, organized by the Cineteca di Bologna, is a cinephile's paradise, with films from morning to night. The festivities begin as early as June 20 with a review of restorations, which will continue through July.
