Breathtaking views and where to find them

Updated on 06 March 2020 From Bologna Welcome

Follow our guide to discover the most beautiful panoramic views around Bologna. So, saddle up folks! Behold the city from the highest points, reach the majestic summits, count the stars and make a wish, the magic starts now.

Let’s start from the path, the first one on the city hills, that connects San Michele in Bosco and Forte Bandiera, which in the end will reward you with a wonderful panorama.

Even from the Colle della Guardia and the Sanctuaryof San Luca, one of the city’s symbols, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the city.

One of the most stunning scenic points of the Municipality of Alto Reno is the viewpoint of Monte Piella (Mount Piella), which offers breathtaking views on the Reno Valley at 1196m. Majestic trees grow on its way, pine and beech forests abound and are crossed by innumerable trails. It is also the perfect destination for venturing out in search of mushrooms, but also for practicing paragliding or hang-gliding.

The Gessi Park is also worth mentioning, a territory rich in spectacular chalk outcrops and countless karst phenomena, including caves and the characteristic ravines of Passo dell’Abbadessa (Abbadessa Pass).

In addition, you can climb to the top of Monte Adone, a paradise for hikers and for climbing lovers. It is the highest rock massif of the Contrafforte Pliocenico natural reserve along the Gothic Line.

Finally, take your time to visit the Alidosi Bridge, a 42m unique arch and a splendid example of a renaissance humpback bridge.
