Bologna
The Park stretches to the peak of Paderno Mountain (359 mt.), one of the most popular elevation in the hills surrounding the city. The route del Forte, leading to the mountain peak, reminds one of the fortresses built in the years following the country's post -Unification for the defense of the city. The countryside and routes of the park cross widespread woods, cool or dry after exposure, crowded with shrubs, rows of fruit-trees, or brushes introduced more recently .The alternation of this environment features a landscape where areas of the traditional farming fit in nicely with its native vegetation and ecological processes. From the Park you can experience surrounding scenic views, including the typical gullies on the mountain foot slopes. In October 1786 they were visited by Goethe collecting samples of 'baritina', for centuries considered a mineral as a phosphorous stone of Paderno. Nearby the church dedicated to St. Apolinnare is well-known since the 13th century. The park, with its 27 hectares of land, was open in 1974. Text taken from the website of Salaborsa library
