La Bora Naturalistic Area

This is one of the protected lowland areas where there is a centre for the repopulation of the marsh tortoise, a local species that is being challenged by the 'exotic' tortoises that are occupying the entire habitat. Thus, right here, every year many small tortoises grow in protected tanks and are eventually released into the environment.

Among the main attractions of Bora are the birds, which are undoubtedly among the most easily observed species in the area. In the different seasons, however, it is also possible to admire various butterflies, grasshoppers and praying mantises, while in the large tanks of the Amphibian Centre, there is no shortage of frogs, newts and dragonflies.
