Urban Innovation Lab

In the heart of metropolitan Bologna, between Palazzo d'Accursio and Salaborsa, the Innovazione Urbana Lab (Urban Innovation Lab) spaces are ready to introduce you to a unique view of the city. As you follow the path, take a look at the transformations that Bologna has undergone so far and move towards the challenges of tomorrow. Also, thanks to the Lab's technologies, you will be playing a leading role in a new narrative of the city, including culture, politics, economy, urban transformation and ecological transition. 

Discover the constantly evolving contents, installations and technologies that uniquely define the five Lab spaces:  the Gallery, a journey through the 20th century city up to the present day; the Avenue, an immersion in the sounds and images of the contemporary city flows and connections; the House, where data and information about the city are stored for viewing through a large interactive model; the Studio, a space for in-depth thematic analysis in which to retrace the history of Bologna and enter into the examination of the changing city; the Workshop, a laboratory area where you can imagine and contribute to the city' s transformation. 

Innovazione Urbana Lab will be open to the public within the opening hours of the Salaborsa Library, with entrance from the Main Courtyard of Palazzo d'Accursio, Piazza Maggiore, 6.

Innovazione Urbana Lab was created as part of the Open Laboratory (funded by the Regional Operational Programme ERDF European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 Emilia-Romagna, Axis 6 "Attractive and participatory cities" Action 2.3.1) and is the result of a collective work coordinated by the Foundation for Urban Innovation, made possible by the close collaboration with the University and the Municipality of Bologna. 

The Fondazione per l'Innovazione Urbana is a centre for analysis, communication, elaboration and co-production on urban transformations, whose activities arise from the synergy between the Municipality of Bologna, the University and other city partners with the aim of developing strategic projects for Bologna. By means of the analysis, research, listening and dialogue activities it develops in the territory, the Foundation proposes an original vision of the city and the social, environmental and technological challenges it constantly faces.
