A new branch of the Archaeological environmental museum was inaugurated in Sant’Agata Bolognese in 2010. The exhibition displays a collection of archaeological finds dating back to the Bronze Age, found in the Bolognese plain between the Samoggia and the Panaro river.
At the time, this area was a densely populated region, which owed its prosperity to its rich soil as well as its efficient economic and social organization. The typical settlement was the "terramara", a peculiar square-shaped village, surrounded by a moat.
