Forty years since its publication, the topic discussed by Havel’s book is still relevant despite the changed historic circumstances: the political role of truth, attention-seeking behaviour in society and the life-changing strength of truth. An ideology is not defeated by another opposing ideology, but by a life that has the courage of its reasons, which are inevitably “political”. In this perspective, the episode of the gardener is emblematic and is also referred to in the exhibition setup. The exhibition will unfold as a long interview withHavel: the questions have been asked in the present and the answers have been freely taken from his books to discover what can truly mark the life of a people through his life, thought and worries. The richness of his thought and the strength of his testimony are surprisingly relevant today.
