On Love and Other Matters, Richard Renaldi's solo exhibition, brings to Bologna the most recent project of the US photographer - I Want Your Love - together with three projects never showed before, including Hotel Room Portraits and Pier 45. Richard Renaldi made his first self-portrait at the age of ten years old: standing in the bathroom of his family’s house in suburban Chicago, he starts a work of self-analysis through the camera that would occupy him for the rest of his life. It was 1978. I Want Your Love, the artist’s fifth monograph published in 2018, is the visual autobiography of Renaldi, the story of the most intimate moments of a seemingly charmed life. From childhood to middle age, it explores what it means to be young and perpetually seeking, and what it means both to find and to lose the things we most deeply treasure.
