Drawing is a technique Boldini experimented with since he was just a child, so much so that legend has it that he learnt how to draw before he learnt how to read. Anecdote aside, drawing was his daily rule of life, a categorical imperative that allowed him to investigate, analyze, and reproduce all the details of the surrounding environment that would set him free to experiment, far from his audience, new motifs, new compositive solutions and stylistic approaches
