The open-air arena dedicated to Giacomo Puccini was built in 1935 inside a recreational and sports park of the Dopolavoro ferroviario (DLF - Railway Recreational Association) in via Serlio. Opera was also performed here. This place became a popular open-air cinema during summer months after the Second World War.
Nowadays, this historical open-air cinema hosts "Arena Puccini", the film programme which has become a traditional appointment among the Bologna summer events. Every year, from mid-June to the beginning of September (dates of 2018 edition to be confirmed) it proposes the best of the latest cinema season, as well as conversations with directors and actors.
