The University of Bologna Herbarium is one of the oldest in Europe. It contains dried plant collections that date from the 16th century onwards. The collection is at present estimated to consist of about 110.000 dried plants. A complete computer catalogue of all the collections is however now being completed. Its historic collections are particularly important, especially the one created by Ulisse Aldrovandi in the 16th century. In the Botanical Museum hosts a display of exhibits from some of the most important collections
