Description
Visit to the Castle of Levizzano Rangone, perched in a commanding position on the Modena hills, once a strategic point for the protection of the ancient noble court, whose fortified courtyard and halls will be part of the tour.
In addition to visiting the “Halls of the Bishops”, decorated with a Renaissance fresco cycle, visitors will walk through the underground passage that connects the castle to the nearby Matildic Tower, restored in the 18th century by the Rangoni family, the last owners of the castle.
On the ground floor, visitors can explore the Rosso Graspa Museum, which tells the story of winemaking in the Castelvetro area through an immersive experience combining storytelling, objects from rural life, and multimedia installations.
The tour continues with a stop at the former Napoleonic cemetery of Campo San Rocco, located near the castle. It is one of the few remaining examples of a civil cemetery built according to the Napoleonic Edict of Saint-Cloud.
To conclude the itinerary, visitors will reach by car the Oratory of San Rocco, located along the road to Castelvetro, where a magnificent panoramic view of the vineyards across the hills of Levizzano and Castelvetro unfolds.
