The permanent exhibition route of the Sala della Musica was inaugurated on June 21, 2021. Since then, the space has hosted events, exhibitions, meetings and workshops to enrich the story of the history of popular music in Bologna from 1945 to the present day.
To celebrate this fifth anniversary, a special event is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026. Its title refers to Take Five, the famous piece by Dave Brubeck, who performed in Bologna in 1959 at the Teatro Duse with Paul Desmond, Joe Morello and Gene Wright.
Celebrating this milestone will be an opportunity to “give a high five” to all those who have contributed so far, retracing the main stages of the project and thanking the people and organisations that have made these years of activity possible. The meeting will be open to all the protagonists of this story and to anyone wishing to propose new ideas, creating an ideal bridge towards future projects.
Curated by Riccardo Negrelli, musician and expert in the history of popular music.
Initiative promoted by the Culture and Creativity Department of the Municipality of Bologna as part of the activities of Bologna UNESCO City of Music.
Sala della Musica, on the second floor of Biblioteca Salaborsa, is the first permanent exhibition route in Italy dedicated to the history of a city’s popular music.
