In the first centenary of his birth, Pianofortissimo celebrates Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) with a special concert-tribute by the Q5TANGO group formed by Massimiliano Pitocco (bandoneón), Alessandro Vavassori (violin), Adrian Fioramonti (guitar), Michele Paperini (piano) and Guglielmo Caioli (double bass). Since the 90s the ensemble has distinguished itself as the first Italian group almost exclusively engaged in the performance of Piazzolla's music. The soul of the group is the well-known bandoneonist Massimiliano Pitocco, a well-rounded musician who studied inaccordion, composition, organ and has a deep knowledge of ancient performance practices. For years he also played the bandoneón dedicating himself to tango and, in particular, to Piazzolla's music. In 2002, in Switzerland, he played and directed Piazzolla-Ferrer's opera Maria de Buenos Aires, with a considerable success. The program set up together with the Q5 TANGO musicians, The Angel and the Devil, offers some of Piazzolla's most famous pieces, from Adiós Noniño, Romanza del Diablo, Milonga del Angel to the Concierto para Quinteto.
