Orchestra Mozart - Daniele Gatti - September | December 2026

The programme for the first of the two 2026 concerts by the Orchestra Mozart, conducted by Daniele Gatti and scheduled for September 17 and December 4, includes Ludwig van Beethoven's Coriolan Overture in C minor, Richard Wagner's symphonic poem Siegfried Idyll and Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major "Rhenish".

Founded in Bologna in 2004 as a special project of the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, based on an idea by Carlo Maria Badini and Fabio Roversi Monaco, the Orchestra Mozart is an internationally renowned ensemble with a unique place in the Italian musical landscape.

Claudio Abbado, its founder and artistic director for ten years, shaped the orchestra’s identity by bringing together leading soloists and principal players from prestigious orchestras with young talents from around the world, encouraging encounters and the exchange of experience and knowledge between artists of different generations.

A distinctive feature of the orchestra is its constant pursuit of balance between symphonic spirit and chamber-music sensitivity, reflected in the importance placed on listening and sharing, fundamental principles of chamber music.

The Orchestra Mozart, which operates under the aegis of the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, has collaborated with major musical institutions including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Salle Pleyel in Paris and LuganoMusica.

The 2026 Orchestra Mozart concert programme was chosen as the subject for the launch of Saper Vorreste…, an educational social-media initiative by the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna designed to present and promote its activities.

Curated by Professor Piero Mioli, president of the Bologna institution, which celebrated its 360th anniversary in 2026, the first series of features was published during the summer on the Instagram and Facebook channels of the Accademia and the Orchestra Mozart. Through short videos, Professor Mioli shared anecdotes and insights about the works included in the two Bologna concerts. Palazzo Carrati, the historic headquarters of the Accademia at via Guerrazzi 13, also preserves the autograph manuscript written in 1770 by the fourteen-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which earned him admission to the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna.
