On Thursday, 16 April 2026, at 9:00 p.m., the Teatro Duse in Bologna will present the concert by the Ensemble Le Muse, ‘Omaggio a Morricone’ (Tribute to Morricone).
Ennio Morricone needs no introduction: with two Oscars, three Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes, six BAFTAs, ten David di Donatello Awards, eleven Nastri d'Argento Awards, two European Film Awards, a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, a Polar Music Prize and over 70 million records sold worldwide, he is undoubtedly the greatest film score composer of all time. His music has spanned generations and genres, leaving an indelible mark on the history of cinema and music.
The instrumental protagonist of the concert is the prestigious Ensemble Le Muse, an all-female ensemble that represents Italian musical excellence. Le Muse had the honour of inaugurating the Italian presidency of the European Union with concerts in Ankara and Istanbul and, during a performance at the Mohamed V Theatre in Rabat, Morocco, they received the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic for this show.
The artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Andrea Albertini, pianist and conductor, creator of the show and founder of the Le Muse ensemble. Albertini, fresh from the success of previous editions of Omaggio a Morricone – Musiche da Oscar, accompanies the audience on a journey through Morricone's extraordinary career, introducing each piece with stories and anecdotes that reveal its secrets and emotions.
The evening will be enhanced by the sweet voice of Angelica Depaoli, who will bring back to life the magical atmospheres of the soundtracks that have marked the history of Italian cinema. In addition, the presence of special guest Susanna Rigacci, Italian-Swedish soprano and Morricone's soloist since 2001, makes the concert an event of the highest artistic value. Rigacci continues to perform the Maestro's music exclusively with Le Muse and Andrea Albertini. During the evening, reworkings of famous soundtracks from Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns such as Once Upon a Time in the West, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Duck, You Sucker will be performed, as well as the evocative melodies of The Mission and the modern atmospheres of Malèna and Cinema Paradiso. There will also be surprises with lesser-known songs, such as the unforgettable Se telefonando (made famous by Mina) and Here's to You (sung by Joan Baez).
