On Thursday, 14 May 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at the Teatro Auditorium Manzoni, the Münchener Kammerorchester, Florian Donderer and Piotr Anderszewski will perform in concert: Mozart KV 491, Brahms and Prokofiev between classical and contemporary.
PROGRAMME:
- Jessie Montgomery Strum for string orchestra
- Ludwig van Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15
- Johannes Brahms Intermezzo in A major, Op. 118 No. 2
- Intermezzo in B flat minor, Op. 117 No. 2; Intermezzo in E flat minor, Op. 118 No. 6
- Sergei Prokofiev Symphony No. 1 in D major, Op. 25 “Classical”
More than a chamber orchestra, the Münchener Kammerorchester is a vibrant laboratory for today’s music. Composers such as Xenakis, Rihm, and Sciarrino have written for this elite ensemble, which here places its flexible forces at the service of Prokofiev’s irreverent neoclassical pirouettes, the brilliant sonic achievements of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto, and the dancing Strum by Jessie Montgomery, infused with American folk idioms.
As a counterbalance stands Brahms’s pianistic island: a twilight in which “pleasure” and “melancholy” coexist in peaceful reconciliation, in the interpretation of Piotr Anderszewski, a supreme master in shaping every possible nuance of stillness.
