Monday July 6, 2026, at 9:00 PM in the Cortile dell’Archiginnasio in Bologna: Trio Rinaldo: Dvořák and the Dumky, between meditation and storytelling.
PROGRAM:
- Antonín Dvořák Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 21
- Antonín Dvořák Trio No. 4 in E minor, Op. 90 “Dumky”
Dumky is the plural of dumka and derives from the Slavic verb dumati, “to meditate.” The term also refers to a ballad with an elegiac and narrative character, where moments of deep reflection intertwine with sudden bursts of energy, as if thought itself becomes storytelling.
It is difficult to approach the rustic and vibrant world of Dvořák without passing through his trios: the last, poised between introspection and rhythmic impulses, illuminates the transition from Brahmsian discipline to a freer expressive language rooted in folk tradition. It is a natural terrain for the Trio Rinaldo, trained at the Chigiana, Accademia Stauffer, and Avos Project, and recognized by Italian critics as the “best emerging ensemble” at the latest “Abbiati” Awards.
Performers:
Trio Rinaldo
- Leonardo Ricci – violin
- Rebecca Ciogli – cello
- Lorenzo Rossi – piano
