On Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 9:00 pm, the Cortile della Pinacoteca nazionale di Bologna hosts the concert I bassi da arco e da pizzico, performed by the Aura Furiosa Ensemble.
A musical journey into the heart of the 17th and early 18th centuries, between depth and virtuosity. The trio explores the rich expressive possibilities of bass instruments, alternating passages of intense lyricism with moments of brilliant rhythmic energy. From elegant Italian sonatas to lively Iberian dances, the programme highlights the refined dialogue between bowed and plucked strings, revealing the full variety and charm of basso continuo.
A fundamental element of Baroque musical language, the basso continuo is here entrusted to the interplay between cello, violone, theorbo and guitar: not merely harmonic support, but a true expressive driving force of the musical discourse. The instruments interact with freedom and creativity, creating a rich and dynamic sound texture capable of enhancing every nuance of the repertoire.
Performers:
Baroque cello Canseli Cifci
Theorbo/guitar Jonathan Ramirez
Violone Matteo Mirri
The concert is part of the Membrane Culturali 2026 programme, organised in collaboration with Orchestra Senzaspine.
In case of rain, the event will take place in the Sala Gnudi of the Pinacoteca nazionale di Bologna.
