Piazza Maggiore - IndipendenzaFree entryAccessible
Re-enactment of the celebrations that took place in Bologna in February 1849, after the birth of the Roman Republic.
One hundred dancers in historical costumes will remember the joyful and liberating atmosphere of the event that took place around albero della libertà (tree of freedom), a symbolic ritual of Jacobin that became a great moment of celebration for all citizens, bourgeois and commoners.
The re-enactment becomes a great opportunity to involve all those present who will be called to dance. The event is part of the historical re-enactment "Young Italy, young Europe. Ideas, struggles, emancipation" promoted by the 8cento APS with the Museo civico del Risorgimento and Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento-Comitato di Bologna for for the 150th anniversary of the death of the patriot Giuseppe Mazzini.
The event is part of Bologna Summer 2022, the program of activities promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna - Territorio Turistico Bologna-Modena, and is part of the calendar of historical re-enactments of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
Artistic direction by Alessia Branchi.
