On Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 8:30 PM at the Oratorio San Filippo Neri, pianist Emanuele Arciuli will perform in concert.
With John Cage, the piano becomes a laboratory of timbre: screws, bolts, and objects placed between the strings transform the instrument into a theatrical and sonic gesture. Today, that research can go beyond the material itself, as demonstrated by Emanuele Arciuli, a leading interpreter of American music, with an idea of “preparation” that also involves the digital: the hammer interacts with sensors and sampling, opening up new listening scenarios.
The concert weaves together experimentation and tradition through the form of Variations: from Haydn, with his classical clarity, to a path that looks toward jazz and Thelonious Monk, and on to contemporary works written for Arciuli. An itinerary that highlights how variation remains, yesterday as today, a fertile ground for reinvention and musical memory.
