Cucòma Combo is the musical creature of Marco Zanotti, director of the Classica Orchestra Afrobeat, which takes its cue from the boiling coffee pot, which in some parts of Romagna is called "cucòma." Coffee varieties mainly from Latin America and Africa represent the diverse sound and artistic experiences the multi-instrumentalist/composer has ground in his 20-year career. We travel on paths of Congolese soukuss and Amazonian carimbos, amid Colombian cumbia accents, kalimba vibes and tribal vocals. We find tracks sown with space-funk and afrobeat, with amazing acid keyboards and enchanting female vocals.
The matrix of the compositions is as black as coffee and reveals itself in the dense weaving of tribal vocals and the pressing rhythm of the tracks. Exciting music that starts from diversity to celebrate equality, tolerance and desire.
Featuring Marco Zanotti, drums, percussion, vocals; Martina Fadda, lead vocals, percussion, synth; Daniel Corbelli, guitar, percussion, vocals; Andrea Taravelli, bass, vocals; Fabio Mina, flutes, tenor sax, Colombian gaita, danmoi, electronica, kalimba; Marcello Jandu Detti, trombone, bombardino, trumpet, shells, vocals.
