Events on March 7:
- All the Women of the Certosa
2:00 pm, Certosa Cemetery – Via della Certosa 18
The epitaphs of the silent city often remember women as wives, consorts, brides, sisters. But there are also memorials that recall their contribution to society: Brigida, Gualberta, Lina, Tommasina—women who worked in the worlds of culture, politics, and entertainment.
A walk with Roberto Martorelli through the Monumental Cemetery of the Certosa, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Organized by the Associazione Amici della Certosa with the Museo civico del Risorgimento.
Booking required at prenotazionicertosa@gmail.com. Confirmation email of successful booking is required.
Meeting point at the main entrance (church courtyard), Via della Certosa 18.
- A Voice in Balance. Tribute to Eta Boeriu
5:30 pm, Museo della Musica - Strada Maggiore 34
As part of the series “wunderkammer the museum of wonders”.
For “ri-Creazioni - the Athena Musica meetings”, meeting with Cristina Pascu. Live Ioana Badiu, soprano; Christophe Alvarez and Georgiana Fodorne, piano. Organized by Academia Nationala de Muzica Gheorghe Dima - Cluj-Napoca in collaboration with Athena Musica.
The lecture-recital is dedicated to Eta Boeriu (1923–1984).
An Italianist and translator, she rendered into Romanian the complete poetic works of Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, Michelangelo, Leopardi, Verga, Moravia, Pavese, and Vittorini. Eta Boeriu was also a writer and poet, author of refined poems inspired by music.
The event aims to highlight her original contribution to the dialogue between cultures and artistic worlds, bringing together music, poetry, literary studies, and translation studies.
A lecture by musicologist Cristina Pascu and a vocal-instrumental recital by soprano Ioana Badiu and pianists Christophe Alvarez and Georgiana Fodor will explore the musical resonances of Italian poets, from Dante to Petrarch, in Eta Boeriu’s translations, featuring works by Rossini, Puccini, Pizzetti, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, von Bülow, and Liszt.
The meeting between poetry and music is a metaphor for the cultural continuity to which Eta Boeriu dedicated her artistic and professional life: her figure emerges as a luminous presence in European humanism, building a bridge between two cultural traditions—Italian and Romanian—united by a shared devotion to art.

Beyond the names and faces that usually populate history books, there is a precious and often invisible thread: the one woven by women. This itinerary highlights the fundamental role of those who, during the long nineteenth century in Bologna, chose to inhabit the public sphere. From barricades to salons, women’s presence and choices were not marginal, but a conscious force that made a difference.

- Free and Bold. Women in History Told by the Civic Museums of Bologna
24/7
Also worth noting is the thematic path permanently available on the Google Arts & Culture platform. Activities considered commonplace, such as playing music, acting, and reading, have represented major achievements for women. Many have courageously forged paths of freedom, contributed to social progress, and, in certain historical phases, helped shape the world as we know it today. The story allows visitors to discover the many female figures narrated by Bologna’s civic collections, representing models of emancipation.
