On Sunday, 22 March 2026, for the first time since its restoration following the earthquake, Villa Talon will reopen its doors to the public. This is a rare privilege and opportunity to enter a place that has preserved its history for centuries.
The villa features solid, balanced architecture, free of ostentation but capable of conveying elegance and authority. The monumental frescoes, now restored to their former glory, recount a period of ambition and culture, when the dwelling was both a residence and a centre of agricultural government.
The landscape of the lower Bologna area stretches out around it: the Reno river, the drainage canals, the park and the centuries-old trees make up the “spirit of the place”, the genius loci of the Latins — an intact, unique and unrepeatable environment, born from the centuries-old intertwining of history, culture, nature and human presence.
The meadows surrounding the villa still recall the ancient paddocks used for breeding English thoroughbred racehorses, a great passion of the Talon Sampieri family. Over the centuries, the residence has welcomed illustrious guests such as Pope Julius II, Victor Emmanuel III and Ottorino Respighi.
Visiting Villa Talon during the FAI Days means travelling through centuries of beauty in a place that, after the long silence imposed by the earthquake, is finally ready to tell its story once again.
The villa is open to visitors from 10:00 to 17:00.
