Bologna
Canali di Bologna, with its licensed guide, will accompany you along the Reno Canal route in the city. Take the opportunity to learn about this Canal through the stories, anecdotes, technical data from the point of view of those who work closely with us every day. The Reno Canal, in addition to feeding water conserves, dyeing plants, fish farms, pulp mills, paper mills, tanneries, canapatories and other heterogeneous processes, the waters of the Reno canal, derived from Casalecchio, operated various orders such as spinning mills, fulling mills, mills, millstones, hammers, ironers, dies and sawmills. Although for different purposes than those for which they were built, the Casalecchio lock and the Reno Canal, currently used as a sewage spillway in Bologna and for irrigation uses in the lower Bolognese lowlands, are still in operation and one of the oldest consortiums of Italy, established in the second half of the sixteenth century, takes care of their operation and maintenance.
