Art Fair 2027

Arte Fiera is Italy’s longest-running modern and contemporary art fair.

Its 50th edition, held in the traditional exhibition halls of BolognaFiere, will take place from 5 to 7 February 2027, with a preview on 4 February.

Arte Fiera 50 also celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the first International Performance Week, the historic event that took stock of the state of performance art during one of its most vibrant periods, by hosting a special performance-focused project in spaces adjacent to the fair itself.

Starting from these two important anniversaries, the title of this edition – There’s Time – refers both to the long history of Arte Fiera and to a hypothetical future time, a story that aims to project itself forward through a renewed format that reflects on the role and identity of an art fair in the complex times we are living through.

There are five curated sections, divided between the Modern and Contemporary halls. 

• “Photography and Beyond”, dedicated to the photographic medium, is curated by Marta Papini. The section explores photography from a broad perspective, ranging from formal research to conceptual approaches.
• “Multiples”, curated by Lorenzo Gigotti, spans a wide range of languages – lithographs, artists’ books, design pieces, graphic works, photographs, as well as audio editions and new media – and practices focused on reproducibility and accessibility.
• “Painting XXI”, curated by Ilaria Gianni, rediscovers painting as a language of the present in a period when this medium has powerfully re-emerged on the art scene.
• “Perspective”, curated by Michele D’Aurizio, is dedicated to the creative research of younger generations and features monographic presentations promoted by galleries with a research-driven programme.
• “Twentieth+”, curated by Alberto Salvadori, places collecting practices at the centre, exploring possible approaches and interpretations marked by eclecticism and cross-disciplinary perspectives.

Arte Fiera is also pleased to renew its close collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna, which during the days of the fair will present the fourteenth edition of ART CITY Bologna, the programme of events and exhibitions directed by Lorenzo Balbi, Artistic Director of the MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna.
