The exhibition presents a recent series of artworks that the Norwegian artist Vibecke Hetland created inspired by Mozart's The Magic Flute.
The exhibition, curated by Greta Martina and Giulia Pedersini, will reveal the link that intrinsically unites music and painting in the artist's research.
The artworks on display were created by Hetland between 2023 and 2025 and arose from the meeting between the evocative power of Mozart's Magic Flute and her artistic research, which made the material and the color its main narrative tools.
Inspired by the famous Opera, the artist transforms the fairy tale into an image, working with acrylic paint and heterogeneous materials —including canvases and fabrics — which become living elements of the composition. The works create a visual and sensorial bridge between the fantasy world of the opera and the physical reality of the spectator, who becomes a participant in the mystical-dream world of the Opera.
The bright backgrounds and bold combinations accentuate the expressiveness of the figures and give the entire corpus a dramatic tension that reflects the emotional nuances of Mozart's music. Painting becomes theater and every canvas becomes a scene.
The exhibition period will host two events that will explore the relationship between the artworks and the influence of The Magic Flute on them.
