On Saturday, 13 December 2025, the exhibition Paleotac – How to Look Through Fossils opens at the Giovanni Capellini Museum.
For centuries, paleontologists have extracted fossils from rock in an attempt to uncover the secrets of our planet’s distant past. The exhibition aims to show how Computerized Axial Tomography (CT scanning) has transformed paleontological research, opening new frontiers in the understanding of the anatomy, biology, evolution, and even the behavior of plants and animals that went extinct millions of years ago.
Paleotac also inaugurates the new ground-floor layout of the Collection, featuring innovative digital installations (an immersive room, conversational avatars, and virtual reality stations) and the use of augmented reality to enhance the experience of the historical collections on the first floor.
The exhibition will be open until 17 May 2026.
