Wednesday, November 19, at 6:00 p.m. at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, the exhibition Riflesso fantasma (Phantom Reflection), featuring B*MO (Bérénice Motais de Narbonne) and Dario Sostegni, opens.
Riflesso fantasma is not merely a meeting between two important artists from the contemporary scene, but rather the staging of a genuine dialogue that takes shape through precise and shared curatorial and display choices.
This approach highlights the impression of a widespread imaginative world—albeit diverse—present in many works by authors of the younger generations, who draw strength from the creation of alternative worlds: genuine universes that may be natural, metropolitan, or virtual, yet always “parallel worlds,” simulations of lateral realities.
One might call it science fiction, if that term didn’t immediately evoke visions of futuristic eras and technologically elaborate missions. Here, instead, a more everyday dimension and an organic nature prevail—constantly metamorphic as it swallows and digests everything. The vastness of outer space gives way to a closer, yet equally enigmatic landscape, prompting us to question who truly acts: the landscape itself or us. The presence of young characters—adolescents navigating family relationships or forming alternative micro-communities on the margins of society—creates yet another bridge between the two artists presented here.
Curated by Hamelin, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna and the Institut français Italia.
