The exhibition “Pasolini. Anatomy of a Murder” is on view at Galleria Modernissimo from 30 October 2025 to 8 February 2026.
Fifty years after the tragic death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Bologna pays tribute to the poet, filmmaker, and intellectual with a powerful and thought-provoking exhibition: “Pasolini. Anatomy of a Murder”, hosted at the new Galleria Modernissimo, located in the heart of the city next to Cinema Modernissimo.
Curated by Gian Luca Farinelli, Marco Antonio Bazzocchi, and Andrea Speranzoni, the exhibition retraces the final months of Pasolini’s life through documents, film stills, and archival materials, revealing the complexity of a case that deeply marked Italian history.
The exhibition draws inspiration from the investigative film Pasolini, un delitto italiano (Pasolini: An Italian Crime), which meticulously reconstructs the trial for the artist’s murder, challenging the verdict that attributed sole responsibility to Pino Pelosi. The result is a powerful and deeply human narrative, where Pasolini’s own voice — lucid and unsettling — seems to foresee his imminent death.
A unique opportunity to explore the words, ideas, and visions of one of the greatest figures of 20th-century culture, in the space that Bologna has dedicated to celebrating and preserving the art of cinema.
