The Libyan collection of the Red Cross of Bolonia exhibited for the first time in a civic museum. It recovers the memory of an important episode of the Italian post-unification colonialism in Africa, the turkish-italian war (1911-1912).
This exhibit gives the opportunity to get in touch with the war events of the Italian colonial expansion period until the end of the Second World War and it enables to know the paths of the colonialism collection in Italy and in Europe. You will find photographies and objects picked up in Libya from the members of the 47th Ambulance and the use of archive videos coming from the Bologna Cineteca. ??
There will be materials from Carl Mazzetti's collection, a Bolonian citizen that lived and has sent from Egypt some objects removed from the battlegrounds of the anglo-mahdist war.
Exhibition curated by Luca Villa, with the collaboration of Mirtide Gavelli and Otello Sangiorgi.
