"Intra-ground: site-specific installation by sculptor Guy Lydster and photographer Andrea Abati"
"Intra-ground" is the title of a new site-specific installation by sculptor Guy Lydster and photographer Andrea Abati that will open on Sept. 23, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cassero di Porta San Donato in Bologna and continue until March 28, 2023.
This public art event, organized by the Associazione Il Campone and curated by Giuseppe Virelli, aims to establish an immersive dialogue between a historically connoted place and contemporary art. The installation, consisting of a sculptural-plastic complex and giant photographs placed within the area of the Cassero di Porta San Donato, is based on the concept of "energy flow," or that regenerative force that runs through things and living beings.
This flow, which can be metaphorically traced back to water, refers both to the circulation of the old canals that ran through the city of Bologna, and to the "current" of men, animals and goods that right through the gates of the ancient circle of walls of medieval and Renaissance Bononia "fed" the exchange between the inside and the outside, between the urbe and the outside world until the early twentieth century.
