Bologna
Thanks to the collaboration of the Archiepiscopal Curia of Bologna and of the Giorgio Cini Foundation of Venice, and with the patronage of Alma Mater Studiorum - Department of Arts, the project figures as the exhibition itinerary of a sedimented philological and documentary research, which allows to fix a new step towards the understanding of the reference models in the figurative context of early medieval Bologna. The main core of the exhibition is made up of the most representative evidence of the surviving plastic production in the city: three carved crosses of monumental proportions belonging to the iconographic variant of the Christus Triumphans that conquers death, for the first time exceptionally presented together. The exhibition itinerary also allows to analyse in-depth the highly original effects of the Gothic Renaissance on the genre of wooden plastic in relation to the invaluable arts thanks to the presence of illuminated manuscripts and refined liturgical objects.
