The MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna presents at its Villa delle Rose venue Screen Life, a solo exhibition by the artist Flavio de Marco, opening on Saturday 31 January at 6:00 pm.
Flavio de Marco’s research (Lecce, 1975) investigates the screen as the new landscape of the contemporary world, moving across different genres of painting: his works traverse figuration and abstraction to represent the experience of space reconfigured by the new digital society.
Conceived specifically for the spaces of Villa delle Rose, the exhibition project spans twenty-six years of the artist’s activity, offering an extensive reading of his pictorial research that marks the epochal transition from analog to digital life. In his early canvases dedicated to computer screens, De Marco identifies the experience of the new contemporary landscape by redefining the perception of reality. Over the years, this space has continued to represent for the artist a privileged field of reflection through which to investigate different subjects, ranging from still life to portraiture—pictorial genres in which the experience of reality becomes a projection into an immaterial space.
Nine thematic sections recount de Marco’s production through approximately seventy works: Self-Portrait, Landscape, Horizon, Souvenir, Views, Fiction, Xenia, Virtual Reality and Avatar.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue produced by Collezione Maramotti and published by Quodlibet, featuring texts by Franco “Bifo” Berardi, Luca Bertolo, Mauro Covacich, Giorgio Falco, Federico Ferrari, Aldo Nove, Maria Luisa Pacelli, Nicola Samorì, Sandro Sproccati, as well as an introduction by Lorenzo Balbi.
Exhibition curated by Lorenzo Balbi, promoted by MAMbo – Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna in collaboration with Galleria Studio G7.
The exhibition will remain open until March 29.
