On Tuesday, 20 January 2026 at 6:00 pm, the exhibition Etel Adnan and Giorgio Morandi | Vibrations, curated by Daniel Blanga Gubbay, opens at the Museo Morandi in Bologna.
The exhibition project is part of the institutional program of ART CITY Bologna 2026, held on the occasion of Arte Fiera, and brings into dialogue the poetics of two artists who are distant in geography yet surprisingly close in sensibility.
Both Giorgio Morandi (Bologna, 1890 – ibid., 1964) and Etel Adnan (Beirut, 1925 – Paris, 2021) devoted their artistic research to a few essential themes, explored through the vibration of color. Influenced by Paul Cézanne, both conceive painting not as mere representation, but as a visual experience capable of narrating reality through light, tone, and time.
Between Bologna and Grizzana, Morandi distills forms and atmospheres into still lifes and suspended landscapes, where chromatic modulation conveys silence, dust, and the duration of the gaze. Between Beirut and California, Adnan transforms mountains, horizons, and suns into intense, two-dimensional fields, in which color becomes presence, moving light, and a relationship with place.
The exhibition will remain open until May 3, 2026.
