On Friday, 13 March 2026, at 6 p.m., the BoA Spazio Arte gallery in Bologna will inaugurate the exhibition L’eco delle piccole distanze (The Echo of Small Distances), which will be open until Saturday, 11 April.
The project L’eco delle piccole distanze, which features a selection of works by Bolognese photographer Carolina Negroni, aims to listen to the resonance that certain moments leave behind. The film introduces a small temporal distance between the shot and the viewing, like an exercise in waiting and accepting limits.
By renouncing the immediate control of digital technology and using an analogue camera, the artist embraces a form of temporary blindness that transforms the act of photography from possession to donation. After being extracted from reality, the image is left to settle in the darkness of the film roll, re-emerging only when the emotion of the shot has become a memory. In this way, the shot becomes an infinitesimal measure of return. The image ceases to be a chronicle of life and becomes a voluntary memory, where time is not a straight line but an echo of memories.
