From 19 to 30 March 2026, Spazio b5 in Bologna will host the photographic exhibition “Discendere o salire” (Descend or Ascend).
The exhibition introduces the work of photographer Andrea Borzatta, an artist who has chosen the Chilean landscape as his field of observation, reflection and vision. The official opening ceremony will be held on Saturday 21 March at 6:00 p.m.
Inside Spazio b5, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in twenty-one photographs, which together form an exhibition narrative that creates a dialogue between Patagonia and the Chilean desert. Borzatta's shots, in addition to documenting the places, transform each scene into a physical and poetic experience, where geography becomes a mirror of the body and consciousness, giving shape to a landscape that communicates directly with the observer. The silent landscape of Chile is the focus of a study of two movements that define our relationship with space and with ourselves, and which give the exhibition its title. In many of the photographs that will be on display to the public from 19 March, a detail — a leaf, a branch, a reflection on the water — already encapsulates the entirety of the landscape. Borzatta extracts almost abstract moments, in which life is captured in a minimal gesture, in a perfect tension between closure and openness, between form and breath. The shots invite us to an intimate deconfinement, to step outside the immediate and inhabit a necessary void, a void that is time, a space for reflection through a distant, foreign, yet slowly approaching landscape. The colours also express the essence of the landscapes, revealing the subtle relationship between the visible and the invisible, between what appears and what waits to be grasped.
The exhibition is curated by architect Lorena Zúñiga Aguilera, with a critical text by Lorenzo Gresleri and under the patronage of the Honorary Consulate of Chile for Emilia-Romagna.
