Bologna host "Data Materialities", an exhibition that will transform the Sala d'Ercole at Palazzo d'Accursio into a space for reflecting on the impact of digital technologies on our surrounding environment.
The exhibition runs from September 20 to October 12, 2025.
In an era of increasingly pervasive digital technology, the exhibition invites visitors to look beyond the "virtual" surface and discover the infrastructure, labor, and materials hidden behind every interaction with our devices. Born from the "Big Tech and Counter-Technologies" artistic residency in October 2024, the exhibition features works of art and architecture that explore the materiality of techno-capitalism on different scales.
It raises crucial questions about the spatiality of the digital world and the possibility of alternative imaginaries.
"Data Materialities" is the result of the European Horizon Europe project "INCA - Increasing Corporate Political Responsibility and Accountability," created in collaboration with the University of Bologna, Fondazione IU Rusconi Ghigi, and the Big Tech Watch Think Tank.
In addition to the exhibition, a rich program of talks and public meetings will be available for researchers, professionals, students, and citizens.
