Cinemovel on the road with Io Capitano

From May 19 to June 8, Palazzo Paltroni is hosting the exhibition Cinemovel traveling with Io Capitano.

In April 2024, Cinemovel brought Io Capitano to the streets of Senegal with a traveling cinema that visited villages and cities, screening the film in the very places where many of its stories originated.

The exhibition, curated by Silvia Camporesi, tells the story of this journey through the photographs of Niccolò Barca and Andrea Fiumana, who captured the atmosphere of the open-air screenings. Videos by Thomas Pilani enrich the narrative with glimpses of everyday life and moments of collective participation.

This visual journey encourages an empathetic reflection on the theme of migration, offering no answers but opening space for dialogue and questioning.
Cinemovel on the road with Io Capitano also stands as a testimony to the collaboration with director Matteo Garrone, actors Seydou Sarr and Moustapha Fall, and cultural mediator Mamadou Kouassi.

Supported by the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna, the initiative enhances cinema as a tool for inclusion and participation, contributing to the construction of a more attentive, sensitive and open citizenship.
