BEST BEFORE is a manifesto that comes from the street and speaks directly to the people. A powerful cry reminding us that change is in our hands, and that the time to act is now, before it is too late. The protagonist of the project is CIBO, a street artist and activist who fights hatred with creativity, transforming swastikas and fascist symbols into colourful works of art, using the language of food. With him, some of the most influential names on the street art scene: Clet, Claudiano.jpeg, Zed1, Mantra, Pao, Plank, Pixel Pancho, Pablos, Millo, Eron and Ozmo.
Documenting and narrating this collective action is legendary photographer Martha Cooper, a historical witness of the movement since the 1970s. Through about 50 shots, the exhibition traces the performance conceived by CIBO and realised together with the above-mentioned artists. A project born in secret in the Verona area, where the artists worked side by side to restore works vandalised by symbols of hatred, transforming them into acts of visual resistance. Each mural thus became a gesture of opposition, a call for freedom of expression and the defence of human rights.
The exhibition arrives in Bologna, at Via Testoni 5D, from 8 July to 26 September 2025, curated by Sara Maira, in collaboration with Magazzeno Art Gaze. The inauguration is scheduled for 8 July at 6 p.m., with a live painting by CIBO.
