MAST Foundation presents the exhibition Andreas Gursky. Visual Spaces of Today
The exhibition, curated by Urs Stahel together with German Andreas Gursky, is inspired by the acronym MAST - Manifattura di Arti, Sperimentazione e Tecnologia.
It proposes new ways of conceiving work, economy and globalisation and unveils the realities of the financial industry, or of energy and food production, or of freight transport.
40 images on display, ranging from the photographer's earliest works (1989) to his most recent works (2022), cover the most diverse locations from Salerno to Hong Kong and combine today's tourist industry (Rimini, 2003) with millenary processes of production (Salinas, 2021).
Andreas Gursky is considered one of the greatest artists of our time; in the 1990s, his figure was particularly associated with 'large-format photography'.
His works are now contemporary icons and have played a key role in establishing the status of photography as art and collector's item.
