Oedipus Rex | Opera Season 2025

A work that bridges the past and the present, created by Stravinsky and Cocteau, is a bilingual and two-faced opera-oratorio. A narrator, speaking in the audience's language, tells the story amidst musical numbers in Latin. Though inspired by the Baroque tradition, the opera feels strangely modern and powerful, alternating between solemn moments and vital rhythms. The tragedy of Oedipus—killer of his father and husband to his mother—continues to evoke pity and terror, just as it did in the classic myth.
